Valentine’s Day is this coming Friday, and it may be a day you love or don’t look forward to. I understand it can evoke many feelings, and I promise this post isn’t just about romantic love. Though I’m sharing my love story, it also includes ways to love your friends better, ideas for celebrating the day, and other fun links. 🩷

I love listening to love stories! It is fun hearing how couples met and fell in love.
Here is our little love story:
We were the unlikeliest of couples. I was a bubbly, outgoing, extrovert college student studying Sociology, while Tony was a quiet, introverted, serious Mechanical Engineering student. We lived in the same dormitory complex my first year and had many mutual friends, but we did not know each other well. We recognized one another to say hello, but that was all. A friend introduced us at a party the following winter, and we started an easy conversation. We spent the remainder of the evening talking to each other. I thought he was the nicest guy I had ever met (he still is!) I was curious and wanted to know more about him.
After that night, I began studying in the library, knowing I would likely see him there. We would then “run” into one another at the library. 😉 I found myself studying more so that I could see him. We began getting to know one another better and meeting to study together and hang out. One day that spring, while at the library, he invited me to join him and some friends to watch a basketball game at another university. Our school was playing its rival, so I knew it would be an exciting game. I went along, and later that evening, he invited me to a pirate-themed party to be held the following month.
We had a great time at the party and began dating exclusively after that. That date, May 3rd, was nearly 39 years ago! We fell in love that summer and surprised many friends when classes resumed in September. No one expected the two of us would end up together, but God knew. We married two years later, and he is still the love of my life.
Do you want to hear the cutest thing? My husband still carries a photo of us taken on the night of the pirate party in his wallet.❤️ We were so young!
Do you have a fun love story? I would love to hear about it!

"Love is patient, love is kind. It isn't jealous, it doesn't brag, it isn't arrogant, it isn't rude, it doesn't seek its own advantage, it isn't irritable, it doesn't keep a record of complaints, it isn't happy with injustice, but it is happy with the truth. Love puts up with all things, trusts in all things, hopes for all things, endures all things." — 1 Corinthians 13:4-7
